Area Representatives Receive Honors at Outstanding Teen competition! press coverage carried 4/17 in Jacksonville Journal and 4/22 in St. Augustine Record http://www.staugustine.com/stories/042207/off_the_record_4546345.shtml St. Petersburg Florida (April 14, 2007) Thirty contestants from across the state of Florida competed at in the Miss Florida Outstanding Teen Pageant held at the Palladium Theater. Several area representatives received honors. The Outstanding Teen Pageant is the sister pageant to Miss Florida, the state affiliate of the Miss America Organization. Kayla Loveday, Miss St. Augustine Outstanding Teen, received the Third Runner Up placement. She is a junior at St. Augustine High School and dual enrolled at St. Johns River Community College and wants to pursue a career in advertising . For her talent presentation, she performed a Winterguard routine to “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Courtney Sexton, Miss First Coast Outstanding Teen, won the Preliminary Evening Gown Award and was in the Top Ten. Courtney is an eighth-grader at Bradford Middle School and Student Government President for the 2006-2007 school year, planning a career in Law. For her talent presentation she performed a Jazz Dance to “It’s Oh So Quiet”. Liz Stiles, Miss St. Johns Outstanding Teen, was in the Top Ten. She is a junior at Stanton College Preparatory School with Dual Enrollment at the University of North Florida and plans a career in Accounting. Liz chose a medley of "Happy" songs for her jazz talent presentation. The Executive Directors of the area pageant, Kelly McGill and Barbara Whitehead, were also honored with the Crowning Achievement Award presented by the Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant. Two additional young ladies also represented this area in an outstanding manner: Madalaine Morrow, Miss Ponte Vedra Beach Outstanding Teen and Arlien Marone, Miss Fleming Island Outstanding Teen. Miss St. Augustine, Megan O'Kelley, and Miss First Coast, Katie-Mathews-Johnson, will compete for the title of Miss Florida in June. These seven young ladies were selected in January at the area pageant sponsored by Coastal Scholarship Foundation, Inc, a Florida not-for-profit corporation and official area representative of the Miss America Organization.
